Temu's Redesign

The Temu Redesign was born from one simple question: how can we make chaos feel clear?

This project started as a UX certification exercise and evolved into an exploration of how empathy, order, and calm can reshape the way people shop online.

Context

Temu’s interface was overloaded with information: banners, pop-ups, discounts, and infinite product feeds fighting for attention.
The shopping flow was fast but fragmented, often leaving users confused and overwhelmed.

The goal of this redesign was to reduce cognitive load, clarify hierarchy, and imagine a shopping experience that feels more structured, intuitive, and human.

My role

As the UX/UI designer on the project, I led the redesign process from exploratory research and heuristics to information architecture, wireframes, and visual design.

As part of the exercise, I also developed a design system focused on accessibility and consistency, ensuring that each component supported a calmer, more cohesive experience.

Process Highlights

Through surveys, tree testing, benchmarking, and heuristic evaluation, I identified three key frustrations: visual overload, confusing navigation, and a lack of trust in the interface.

The redesign focused on reorganizing the home and product pages, simplifying filters, and iestablishing a clearer visual hierarchy.

Wireframes were used to explore different navigation models, followed by iterations on color and typography to improve readability and emotional tone.

The resulting UI balances white space, accessibility, and warmth, slowing the experience just enough to make it easier to understand.

Outcome

The final outcome is a conceptual redesign and interactive prototype that reimagines Temu’s shopping flow as a more intentional and less overwhelming experience.

Exploratory usability testing with a small number of participants suggested faster task completion and fewer navigation errors compared to the original structure.

Beyond metrics, participants described the experience as “less stressful” and “easier to follow”, reinforcing the idea that clarity itself can be a form of empathy.
